Borelson - "As Far As Eye Can See" Album

Fast-rising Toronto-based rapper and multidisciplinary artist Borelson releases his highly anticipated debut album As Far As Eye Can See . Comprised of 11 original tracks, the buzzworthy LP arrives as a hip hop-infused, Afro-diasporic, genre-bending collection of songs that reference rap, spoken word poetry, afrofusion, afrobeats, Latin, soul and R&B while showcasing Borelson's undeniable lyrical dexterity, versatile flows, and vocal delivery. Certainly growing up in central Africa (Gabon, Congo) mixed in with years spent in France played some role in him being able to effortlessly concoct this unique sonic blend: Says Borelson: "I was able to build musical and artistic bridges through my journey - of living on three different continents - in order to unite people on feelings and vibes first. Boldness is one word I would use to describe my debut, mixed in with a cinematic Afrofuturistic feel. In Gabon where I am originally from, we call the football team The Panthers, so the movie Black Panther was emblematic of the way I think and produce music and art. My journey also in some ways feels like something out of the film Coming To America. Perhaps As Far As I Can See is channeling a bit of T'challa (Chadwick Boseman) meets Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy)!"

From a production standpoint, genuine fans of forward-thinking music will enjoy As Far As Eye Can See's remarkably varied audio palette that was cooked up by an all-star cast of Toronto-based producers, beat-makers and composers including Junia-T (Jessie Reyez, Little Simz), Nate Smith (Tobi, Faiza), Ric Notes/Mr. Ouici (Keys N Krates, Shad) and Truss (TRP.P).

GNA Drops Girl Anthem "Love Me"

"Love Mewas actually written and first recorded in 2012. GNA co-wrote the single with songwriter, Myles. She immediately loved the song and what it stood for. The track is about being a confident woman who knows herself, her worth, and above everything, will love herself first.

We are seeing this trend and theme in pop culture right now, with women loving themselves and banding together. Perfect timing with "Love Me" and it's girl power message. The song was produced by T-Nyce, Seth Dyer, and Josh Francois.

Clairmont The Second "A Declaration"

clairmont-second-declaration-a-declaration

Teenaged Toronto-based rap phenomenon Clairmont The Second, whose Quest for Milk and Honey album, was recently voted one of the top 25 Canadian albums of 2016 (#17), by CBC Music, has been spreading his unique rap stylings across North America, since January 31st, as part of the No Warm Up tour, with SonReal. As a prelude to the forthcoming release of new music and visuals, with new label partner, Black Box Music (Shad, Classified, SonReal), they re-issued and co-directed "A Declaration,"

A Declaration is one of those cinematic must-see music videos, that plays out more like a short film than a music video and contains a clever build-up and killer climax (literally). Highly respected on the Toronto music scene, as a prolific one man, music-and-multi-media army, who shoots and edits his own video content, while writing, producing and mixing his own work, this song and video, leave no question as to where the future of Canadian rap creativity and resourcefulness lies. When he raps "me on a mic, that’s a problem” on this buzz track, he really means it.

Veronica (@BeingVeronica) - What Happened (New Music)

Veronica What Happened artwork

Former Disney starlet VERONICA is making waves with her new single "What Happened".

Oftentimes, the evolution of a pop star can seem a little too fabricated. Our minds question whether or not this newfound change is a tactic to reinvigorate one’s career, or if it’s at all genuine. It’s difficult to give attention to, and even more so embrace, the new music of an artist that seems entirely manufactured. When an artist’s evolution is natural, and in this case, a necessary advancement, it’s truly an exciting thing to witness. This is why Toronto’s own Veronica, is beginning to turn heads.

Veronica started her career as a teeny bopper. She was a charming, mini pop star, whose music videos were placed between shows on the Family Channel, a popular television station in Canada. Her bright-eyed persona was geared towards tweens, who tuned in every day after school and watched her sing on-screen. It was fruitful for a while. The gig garnered a loyal fanbase, and ultimately, allowed Veronica to tour and hone her skills. Behind the scenes, however, Veronica knew that she wasn’t like the demographic her music was constructed for. She has since admitted that she felt discouraged and unhappy during this time.

At the age of 18, Veronica left her Disney roots to pursue her passion independently. Now 20, Veronica is crafting the type of music that she’s wanted to her make entire life...her own music.

@DillanPonders "You're Welcome 2" [NEW MIXTAPE]

@DillanPonders "You're Welcome 2"

Toronto’s infamous flower child, DillanPonders, has returned with a brand new release - "YOU’RE WELCOME 2." The highly anticipated sequel from Ponders infamous ‘YOU’RE WELCOME’ series has finally arrived. The mixtape features 8 brand new remixes, including Bryson Tiller’s ‘Rambo’ and Kodak Black’s ‘No Flockin’.

“The YOU'RE WELCOME series is just a thing I share between me and my fans. I have tons of original music in the works but anyone who knows me knows I can't resist remixing songs I love, more specifically industry beats I love. Most "industry rappers" aren't rappers at all they're just making a bunch of noise over beats they don't deserve. It’s fun for me to spit on the beats and give them the flows I think they deserve. I also made a point to use NO auto tune as an experiment to challenge myself, and it come out awesome. It took me 7 days to make this tape and I hope my fans listen to it for the next 7 years”.- DillanPonders

(New Video)-@yngblitz and @ScoobyBlacks "Count On It"

yngblitz-Scooby-Blacks-Count-On-It

Get Familiar with Toronto street spitter Young Blitz as he collaborates with Scooby Blacks to whip up a powerful hustler anthem titled "Count On It". In conjunction with Kushdup Filmsz, the duo deliver a crisp visual that furthers the strength of the single. With Henny in hand, YB lays the lit down with the squad backing him up. The gas mask prop used in some of the shots and other effects give it a post-apocalyptic vibe. Scooby plays the closer position in the video, as he shuts the scene down with his brash delivery.

  Young Blitz made some serious noise in hoods throughout North America in 2015 with back to back collabs alongside Sheek Louch on "Toe Tags" and then with King Louis on "Again". With songs such as "Count On It" and the two aforementioned releases, the Canadian D-Boy is pretty much proving why he's an artist to keep an eye on in 2016.
