Ty Dolla $ign delivers a solid body of work, opening "Free TC" with "L.A.," a bass heavy cut, highlighted by a classic Kendrick Lamar verse and background vocal assistance from R&B superstar Brandy. Ty follows right up with a melodic driven single "Saved," produced by DJ Mustard, which also features Bay Area Legend, E-40 and touches on how Ty isn't about playing Captain Save-a... This signature west coast sound definitely sets the tone for Ty's debut album, providing a rhythmic platform for the R&B Vocalist.
Another album highlight, is song number 5, "Horses in the Stable", where Ty references his many women friends, as grade A race horses. Dolla $ign continues his player ways on "Know Ya," featuring R&B sensation, Trey Songz, and produced by Metro Boomin. Ty also blesses us with a star studded line up on "Guard Down," which features Hip-Hop hitmakers, Kanye West and Diddy, proclaiming to their lady friends to never put their guard down, in a relationship to early. The last half of the album is much darker, as Ty teams up with label mate and CEO, Wiz Khalifa, on the club banger, "Sitting Pretty," where they both spit braggadocios bars about their choice in women. Other standout tracks include "When I See Ya" featuring hitmaker Fetty Wap and "Actress" assisted by the King of R&B R.Kelly. Even with all of the features and top-notch tracks, Ty Dolla $ign's project, "Free TC" still lacks the personal insight that a lot of his fans were anticipated. "Free TC" makes up of a decent debut project for Ty Dolla $ign, but failed to perform on the billboard charts, only producing a lackluster, 16,000 record sales in its opening week of November 13.
