Drake Commissions OG Ron C and The Chopstars For "More Chops"

There's a reason they call him OVO OG Ron C and he's about to make it lucky number six.

After an amazing showing at SXSW last week and still riding high off the media acclaim of his chopped adaptation of the "Moonlight" soundtrack, OG Ron C and The Chopstars just got even more good news. They have just been asked by Drake to get to work chopping the newly released "More Life". ICYMI, past 'chopped not slopped' Drizzy albums were "Houston Can Thank Us Now", "Chopcare", "Choppin Ain't The Same", "If You're Choppin This It's Too Late" and "Codiene Views".

The well of Drizzy love for that classic H-town sound runneth deep it seems. Stay tuned for the drop date to "More Chops".

The Chopstars & Barry Jenkins - "Purple Moonlight"

Moonlight director, Barry Jenkins, showed his appreciation for the slowed-down vibe of chopped and screwed music recently by not only including it in his Oscar-winning film but by excitedly tweeting about the tribute soundtrack that Houston's OG Ron C and fellow Chopstar DJ Candlestick honored his work with. Entitled "Purple Moonlight", the chopped up not slopped up adaptation includes songs from and inspired by the film and composer Nicholas Britell's mostly classical score. 

You can catch OG Ron C and The Chopstars in Austin soon where they are hosting an official Still Tippin' SXSW Texas artist showcase. Performers are expected to include Killa Kyleon, DJ Chose, Beat King, Dice Soho, Imaj and Mo3.
