The big homie Dub G is definitely back in stride on this record. For those who might have thought the Pass Christian, Mississippi native has slowed down, you will be quickly reminded that soldiers prepare for war in times of peace. Though after a four year hiatus and countless hours of behind-the-scenes work, Dub G is reinforced and wants all the doubters to know that he is "Back on That," and out for everything he deserves. With classic production provided by Dub himself, "Mr. Whoa Now" switches flows with ease, while maintaining that southern swag throughout the record. I particularly like his gritty vocal tone and the different ways he rides out each bar. Metaphors and punchlines aside, there's a message behind all of his lyrical weaponry.
"Back on That" is an aggressive banger with sharp lyrics and a hook that gets you joining in by the second time you hear it. This is just one of the red hot records featured on his recently announced, December 21 album release, entitled Adieu. In addition, those on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, this New Year's Eve, will be treated to a special performance by Dub G, on Dec. 31, at Club Illusions II, in Gulfport.
